MUSIC

Hi Everyone, the Male Room challenge today is

What a vast subject of things I could have done with the theme of Music. I always search my files before searching anywhere else and I found just the the image and sentiment I could use. They are both from Create with TLC and fit so well together, I thought.

I coloured the image faces only, in PS, then printed the image and sentiment out with the papers, the art deco background, I thought I knew where it was from, then found I hadn't identified it, so if anyone knows I'll add the info. I embossed it with a Die'sire music EF, the striped paper is from a Debbie Moore Art Deco CD. I layered them with black paper and added black Dovecraft 3D drops. Can you feel the music?

Close up of the embossing.

Thought I would show you the sunsets we had the other night after a miserable dark wet day, certainly didn't expect colour and it was only at the end of the mountain, nowhere else, Spooky?

A Daffodil card

Hi Everyone. Yes! a Daffodil card, wrong season. Why? because I saw this card by Darcy and it is linked to an Outlawz challenge. Well I HAD to join didn't I?

I used a "quick page! for the background and 2 half doily dies to place the Cameo cut daffodil on to. I have had the daffodil file for a long while and hadn't got around to using it, you know how it is. I then added a gold Uniball gold glitter pen around part of the petals.

Now to this Season on the 27th Aug, this sky appeared to us, I have never seen a sky around here like this so had to take photos of it, Yep! I know I am mad for skies, love the effects so different all the time. The last 3 are closeups of the cloud formation. The last one includes some collard doves cuddling up together Aw!

Engagement

Hi Everyone, I have an engagement card for you today, my next door neighbour asked if I would do another 2 engagement cards, for another of her Grandson's, this time they were getting engaged in Corfu, Greece. She wanted on of them exactly like the last one I made for her other Grandson, but without the New York theme here. Which I did no problem, won't show it as it's near enough the same!

The card had to represent Greece and she brought me a tea towel from Greece, to show me what she wanted. It had black olives and the Greek Keys pattern. So that is what I went with and I also went with a Greek looking font "Achilles" for this one and put the Corfu map behind the images. I fussy cut the olives and leaves, for some reason Cameo was offsetting the cut, so had to do it the hard way! I'm glad to say she loved them both.

Christmas card

Hi Everyone, YEP! a Christmas card, but first I have to welcome my new followers, I hope you enjoy your stay with me, thank you for your interest in my work.

Now onto my card, I followed the Outlawz Sketch Challenge and after another search of my files to see what I had to fit in, I came across these papers and images from Aveziur on the Sept2012BlogHop at Digital Scrapbook Studio Designs and as I haven't done many Christmas cards, in fact I think it's 3 so far, I decided to do this card.

I laid it out in PS and printed the layers adding the check paper to black paper. I 3D'd the bunting and the Santa, added 2 die cut snowflakes by Die'sire, and added Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Jewels.

Wild Roses

Hi Everyone my offering today is the August FB group freebie at Morgan's Art World. Makes me think of the hedgerows where they are about to offer their Autumn fruit and the wild rose being one of them. It's also available HERE

I coloured it in PS then sent it over to the Cameo to cut it out in an oval, it was the wrong shape for my dies! I layered it onto card which had been embossed with Memory Keepers flower dies, they were stuck onto the background layer, a couple of gems and some Uniball gold pen into the centre of the flowers and it was done. Oh! yeah! it was that simple! apart from the colouring LOL.

Shaped card

Hi Everyone, my post today is of a shaped card, I had from Shirley's Cards HERE she gives lots of freebies away, but I bought this, I thought it so lovely and a nice size too 175mm  x 120 mm or 7 x 5ish inches closed. It was VERY easy to cut out, even for me with my very old mat and blade LOL. I decided to make it in white and add a little bling. It came with a birthday sentiment, but I added a 2 layer die cut, a sparkly net ribbon and mirror mosaic tiles.

So a simple card for me today, but I am pleased with it, next time a little colour as Shirley has done me thinks.

Bike thanks

Hi Everyone, well I think I am getting back to normal now after all that happened last week! who would think a few days away would cause so much upheaval in time?

My card today is for the Digistamps4joy FB progressive challenge. A really great image, that would have been wonderful for a scrapbook page IF! I had taken photos of all those wonderful wheat fields last week. Anyhow, I decided to make a tag card. I laid it out and coloured it in PS and sent it to the Cameo to cut. Then added a die cut bike free from a magazine last month which I coloured with SN markers, and a Die'sire thank you die. I added the bike, as I could see someone riding through the countryside alongside the fields, I'm such a romantic LOL.

Murder Mystery & thank you card

Hi Everyone, I have so many apologies to give you all, the first the length of this post.

It was supposed to be a weekend, but has spread out, even though we returned on Tuesday. I suppose because we don't go away often, everyone has visited or phoned to checkup on us and find out what happened LOL, We haven't had time to breathe this week. I have only made one card, a thank you, for my SIL's Sister, who put on a real show, with a wonderful story and fabulous food and drink, then a tour around her newly bought and enlarged garden which also has a pond with carp in it, so big, they row a small boat on it!!!!

Anyhow, I shall give you a short version of what went on.

We were all dressed up in costume, mine was a T shirt with the Union Jack on the front, a red and white skirt and a navy blue scarf. Because I had to hide the fact I was actually half Spanish and to try and hide my identity. Hubby had a boiler suit on, as he was a volunteer worker on the "Railway Heritage Museum" site.

We all had names to match Trains, it was so clever the way she wrote it. We did have a laugh, there were GREAT actors amongst us, (including me of course!)

The name of the story was Blood and Custard, because the victim was murdered with a sharp blow to the back of the head and was discovered with his face down in a dish of custard.

We were each given a map of where everyone lived, and told times of when everyone was seen, a real who dun it!

My name was Mon O'Rail, I was married to an Irish man and had lived in Spain. Hubby was Beaux Fey-carr, A distinguished retired RAF Officer. I won't go through all the names but my most favourite was Léval Xing, who had a French mother and Chinese father, so clever don't you think?

Anyhow, it turned out I was the murderer!!! The victim had deceived my husband and made him bankrupt, he was so stressed about it, he killed himself, and I was out for revenge!

If only it had been so simple, out of 9 present, 3 guessed it was me, I thought not too bad, I should have acted better perhaps LOL.  I also won the prize for the best reason to love trains! My reason was I was brought up with trains as my Grandfather was a train driver, 3 of my brothers were firemen on the Steam Trains and the memory of going through the Severn Tunnel (which at the time was the longest train tunnel in the UK) my baby brother and myself, would hang our heads out of the window of the carriage (watching for trains coming so we wouldn't be beheaded!) then my mother spitting on her handkerchief to clean our faces before we met family at the other end.

What would Health and Safety say about that these days? I told a friend and she was shocked that we would hold our heads out of the window and also found it "dirty" that Mum would do such a thing. To us it was natural! Ah! those were the days!

We were coming home on Monday, but my Bruvva and SIL persuaded us to stay another night. We had a wonderful time on Monday my elder brother took us around the Lincolnshire and Leicestershire countryside stopping off in a few places, the only thing was, I forgot my camera, we have taken a couple on our phones, but they are not good modern phones and not made for that. The countryside was full of wheat fields and of farmers with combine harvesters collecting in their harvest, just absolutely wonderful AND perfect weather too. There really were perfect pictures to be taken, I regret so much I didn't have my camera. If I get anything off the phones, I'll try and post some.

On Tuesday we travelled one and a half hours to Bury St Edmunds an historic town to see my Niece who broke her elbow, she can't move it or straighten it and it is still swollen and bruised after all this time. Poor woman.  We stayed a few hours and made our way home, it took 5 hours, but so worth seeing her and enjoying our longer than anticipated weekend.

I did get a few of the sunset on our journey home, they also include all the insects on the car window!

I suspect you are thinking is she EVER going to shut up and show us what we came here for! I know another apology hang head in shame!

If you are still with me - on to the card.

I searched for detective etc in my files and found these beauties I had used them here, they are paper pieced and coloured in PS. I fussy cut the images, 3D'd them, added 3D gloss to the binoculars and magnifying glass and followed the Outlawz Challenge sketch for this week.

Shaving foam technique

Hi Everyone, the Male Room challenge today is

Yep! the title is correct,  "I" have done a "technique" it was with huge trepidation that I took all the equipment needed, an old cooking sponge tray covered with foil, a couple of plastic gloves, hubby's shaving cream and some Adirondack inks, that I have had for years and years and not opened them AND a BBQ skewer! with NOT a computer in sight! (until the inside was printed.)

Squirt the foam, nice smell! add a few drops of the ink, not too much it may be too much! mix with BBQ skewer, OK that's enough, press the card into it, lift it off the foam, crikey!

OK now let it rest for a few minutes, then wipe the foam off. Mmmmmm looks OK, but not much colour, let's do it again - add some more colour, repeat previous steps. Mmmmm not as good as the video samples on The Male Room. Now what to do with it or even them?

This took more thinking than it did to colour the card. I used the lighter colour piece as the background layer and started with an embossing basket weave EF! Then die cut the circle, 3D the card onto some blue paper to match, added the sentiment, which I die cut twice out of the heavier ink card, a few tiny buttons that just happened to match, how lucky is that? Here's the result

I've also added piccies of the card, just to prove I did something so VERY alien to me AND have to say, the card smells gorgeous LOL.

100th birthday

Hi Everyone, a 100th birthday card today and apologies from me, because we are going away for a few days and away from my PC, so no comments or visits from me to you. We are going to a "Murder Weekend" my SIL's Sister has written it and it's based around a Railway Station and in the 1930's, should be interesting, we haven't done anything like that before. Will let you know how it goes.

Anyway back to my card. Another SIL asked if I would make it for a friend of hers. She had seen the one I had done recently HERE and asked if I could do similar. Here it is, with the inside.

I designed the card and the insert in Photoshop.  I cut the image, the flowers, the age and the lace doing print and cut on the Cameo for the front, then layered everything. I added silver Uniball pen onto the flower stamen, the headdress , the lace and drew lines across the lined paper.

Space fantasy card

Hi everyone, I know I have posted this image I digitally coloured, but decided to do a card for our Son with it too. Hope you don't mind a double post! It is slightly different LOL.

I added my own sentiment, I think I have told you before, he hates his age mentioned, which is like a red rag to a bull for me, Bless him! I added a joke inside so hopefully it will placate him! Also made a scene with cakes and tea for him, he is a great Tea drinker.

If you are reading this Chris, Happy Happy FORTIETH Birthday for today!

A Male Hippo

Hi Everyone, another Hippo post today, our friend has just had his hip replaced, it seems the NHS couldn't do it in the time frame stipulated, so he had to travel 35 miles to a Private hospital to get it done by the NHS. He had it done with a epidural as he has a bad chest. He was in and out in 3 days. I decided to use the same sentiment by Create with TLC as it suits this card so well. It's a simple one layer, he doesn't "do" cards!

I paper pieced the hippo and laid it on a distressed background, then added a wobbly eyes, Glad to say he liked it..

Feminine Greenhouse

Hi everyone, my card today was a request from my neighbour, she wanted a 80th birthday gardening card for a lady. BUT not funny, now I love to do fun cards, and that was my first thoughts, so a change of mind set was needed, difficult at my age LOL.

Anyhow this is what I came up with, it was made up of a beautiful freebie digi kit that I had a while ago. I laid it all out in PS, then sent it to the Cameo to print and cut several layers of the roses, the 80, the rose stamp and butterfly.

I printed the greenhouse onto crosshatched card, I love it, I think it makes the image look like it's painted on. I arranged all the layers onto the card and lace. I added silver Uniball Sparkle pen to the greenhouse frame, shame you can't pick it up, it does sparkle and gold Uniball Sparkle pen to the background pattern on the striped paper. Then layered it all on to black paper. I designed the inside and made a little scene with chairs etc on the left. I'm glad to say it was well received.

The centre is cut to fit, it just blew out of place!!!!!!!

Gardener

Hi Everyone, it was our next door neighbour's birthday so I made him a card. The image is one I had already coloured for this card, so thought I would make life easy! and reuse the details.  I do love this image by Dr Digi. the sentiment on the front and inside are by Create with TLC, I used a gradient effect in PS for them. Papers by Marisa Lerin at Pixelscrapper the flower and bee are by Hodge Podge. I followed the sketch (but turned it) which is a choice of a few, to follow for the Scrapbook.com challenge.

A Face

Hi Everyone, my card today is for the Outlawz sketch challenge. Sheepski Designs is the sponsor for the Outlawz Progressive challenge so combined the both. I coloured her digitally, plus using PS "hair" brushes for her hair! I have to REALLY learn how to use them properly, then sent her to print and cut using a Birds Cards doily cut file on the Cameo. I layered the papers by  Amanda Creations, added a ribbon and some bling. A simple and quite quick - apart from the colouring, although I am really pleased with how she turned out.

Sport

Hi Everyone, the Male Room challenge today is

Did you know?
The ancient Olympic Games were initially a one-day event until 684 BC, when they were extended to three days. In the 5th century B.C., the Games were extended again to cover five days. The ancient Games included running, long jump, shot put, javelin, boxing, pankration and equestrian events.
PENTATHLON
THE PENTATHLON BECAME AN OLYMPIC SPORT WITH THE ADDITION OF WRESTLING IN 708 B.C., AND INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING:
RUNNING / JUMPING / DISCUS THROW
I decided on Running! and a birthday card for a runner friend of ours. Well actually I did 2 cards, because I couldn't make my mind up with the sentiment LOL. I will decide nearer to the day. I had the image and the sentiment from Create with TLC, all I had to do was put it together!

I die cut a birthday sentiment, which didn't fit! so I cut it and placed it on the top corner as if it was a winners wreath, then 3D glossed it. I liked it so duplicated it onto the second card. After digitally colouring the image and the sentiment I printed them out and layered them onto card, then layered each onto the main card. Whichever I send, I'm sure he will like it. Hope you do.

 this is the second one.

I thought I would show you a black headed gull that decided to land on a lamp post that I can see from the window of my bed/craft room.  Although they are supposed to be quite a common bird, I've not seen one around here before, so thought I would share it. Also the view I have on this dreadful, chilly, WET, supposedly Summer day.

12 year old card

Hi Everyone, my card today is for the Outlawz Sketch challenge, one thing about this is, I have done something I didn't want to do, pick an image from Pinterest! but, I have checked with a couple of designers to see if the image was theirs and it wasn't, so if anyone can identify the digi I would be VERY grateful.

I have made the card for my Great Niece. I coloured the image digitally added buttons and bees to represent the hearts on the sketch and 3D glossed the 12. Sentiment by Create with TLC

Romantic Floral

It's time for the Monthly challenge at

the Theme is
FLORAL
sponsored by the fabulous
Lunagirl

We DT had a collage sheet to play with from Lunagirl, I chose the lady in white walking in the garden and decided to do something different with it. I multi layered it and added a vintage sentiment I had from the web, I also added a distressed layer to the background layer and bevelled and embossed effect to the middle layer, I wanted each layer to have it's own identity. The font I used is an old one too, it's Santa's Sleighfull.

I chose to add 2 more images from the sheet then added embellishments to enhance it. I think it gives a soft romantic feel, hope you feel the same.
This will be a quick card, ready to print and send.
